ISMETA Membership Possibilities

Associate Members ($65/year)
Anybody can support the mission of ISMETA. An associate member can be a practitioner, a client, or a student. With this membership you will receive the monthly E-News.

 

Registered Members ($100/year)
Practitioners that satisfy the ISMETA registration requirements (see registration requirements) can choose to register with ISMETA to receive ISMETA practitioner benefits. (see benefits page) Depending on one's professional practice and professional training, any qualifying practitioner can choose to register as a Registered Somatic Movement Educator (RSME) or a Registered Somatic Movement Therapist (RSMT). A practitioner can also choose to receive both registrations. Eligibility criteria is outlined for applicants that are not graduates of approved training programs.

 

Associate Member Organizations ($85/year)
Any Somatic Organization that wishes to ally itself with ISMETA may choose to become an associate member organization. These organizations will be listed on the ISMETA organizations website, be invited periodically to phone conference meetings of the member organizations and receive invitiations to regional membership activities.

 

Member Organizations ($200-$300/year)
Member Organizations are those organizations and training programs whose members and graduates are qualified for ISMETA's fast track application process. (see fast track application process). These organizations must fulfill ISMETA's Member Organization Guidelines and send a respresentative to the biannual ISMETA Member Council Meeting. The Process for Individuals

Graduates of ISMETA approved training programs may apply through our Fast Track Application Process:

Fast Track Applicants must send:
  • A completed application form
  • $15 Application fee
  • A Copy of your certificate from the ISMETA-approved training program
  • A Cover letter detailing the history of your practice
  • Two letters of recommendation

Applicants that have not graduated from an ISMETA approved training program must apply for registration through our Independent Track Application Process.

Independent Track Applicants* must send:

  • A completed application form
  • $75 Application fee
  • A detailed transcript of your movement training and copies of all pertinent certificates
  • A catalog or brochure of the school(s) OR biographies of the instructors
  • A video tape (VHS U.S. format) with permission from the clients, of two 1-hour private sessions OR detailed descriptive case analyses of four typical sessions (Please use an alias to ensure your clients' confidentiality.)

*After review of this information ISMETA may direct you to an ISMETA-approved training program or Registered Movement Educator or Registered Movement Therapist in your area so that they may observe your practice.

The Process for Organizations

Completed organization application form including the following:

  • $250 one-time application fee for organizations seeking membership with ISMETA
  • $10 for Certificate of Registry (optional; 8 ½ x 11" formal Certificate of Registry, with Seal)
  • Statement of Purpose (include if your school has already composed this statement) Describe the mission and goals of your program
  • An itemized breakdown of your hours relative to the items listed under "Curricular Requirements" in the Guidelines for ISMETA Approved Training Programs.
  • Your questions (Please type on an attached sheet any questions or concerns your school may have about the guidelines. Please include the section number and letter of the particular clause to which you are referring)
  • Copies of your promotional materials
    Enclose applicable catalogues, brochures and video tapes (VHS, U.S. or European format) of your school and/or program
  • Signed and endorsed copy of the ISMETA Code of Ethics
