ORIGINS weaves together a tapestry of somatic practices, exploring our developmental and evolutionary process from pre-conception to standing, bringing together Developmental Movement Patterns, Authentic Movement, Object Relations, Group Process, Mindfulness, amongst other practices. *The word ‘Somatic’ is a Greek word meaning ‘pertaining to the body’ or ‘of the body’.

The process of our physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual development occurs in overlapping spirals and is neither linear nor hierarchical. As a result, there are nine learning curves or spirals in this training and it is possible to take each curve or spiral as a stand alone experience. As a training that qualifies for Continuing Professional Development, Origins serves to deepen awareness of the uniqueness and interpersonal developmental and somatic process of our lives which may offer the capacity for greater compassion, empathy and attunement with the human condition in us, our families, our clients and the wider community.  Origins takes place in a unique setting on the east coast of Ireland overlooking the Irish Sea.

Tutors include Joan Davis, Ireland (A pioneer of contemporary dance in Ireland, Body-Mind Centering® Practitioner, and Psychotherapist), Charlie Stevens, Ireland (Group Psychotherapist), Remo Rostagno, Italy (Dancer, Body-Mind Centering® Practitioner and Craniosacral Biodynamics Therapist), and Mette Bruhn, Denmark (Artist and Body-Mind Centering® Practitioner and Teacher).

Further information on each of the somatic practices can be found on http://www.gorsehill.net or contact Joan Davis at 01 2876986, email jd@gorsehill.net
